Managing chronic asthma in adults in primary care

Work through interactive patient cases to help you treat patients with asthma in primary care according to the latest UK-based guidance. Includes tips on newly diagnosed patients, patients with adherence issues, and patients with difficult asthma.

Learning outcomes

  • Have a broad understanding of the diagnosis of asthma
  • Know which pharmacological and non-pharmacological options are suitable for patients with different levels of severity of asthma
  • Know which elements make up a personalised asthma action plan
  • Know when to refer a patient with difficult asthma.

Note: NICE published new guidance NG80 on asthma: diagnosis, monitoring and chronic management in November 2017. We are in the course of updating this module in line with the guidance but please bear in mind that it does not yet incorporate the new NICE recommendations.
