What's new in chronic heart failure

This module offers a summary of the key latest developments in chronic heart failure management, and the practical implications for doctors working in primary care. It covers recent recommendations about second- and third-line treatments, anticoagulation, and primary care monitoring. The module covers developments up to summer 2015.

Learning outcomes

After completing this module, you should:

  • Know the key differences in treatment for patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction versus those with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction
  • Appreciate the key recent advances in treatment for heart failure
  • Appreciate the practical implications of these on the day-to-day management of patients in primary care
  • Know when to seek input from secondary care in consideration of starting a new treatment for heart failure.
