Common psychiatric conditions

After completing this course of modules, you should be able to:

  • Feel confident in diagnosing and managing common psychiatric conditions in adults, such as depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia
  • Know how to screen for and manage perinatal mental illness
  • Understand and manage common side effects of psychotropic drugs, life-threatening side effects and discontinuation symptoms
  • Understand the importance and effectiveness of physical exercise as both a preventer and combatant to depression, anxiety, sleeplessness, and dementia
  • The key aspects of the the Mental Health Act, as amended in 2007.
