On completion of this course you should be able to:

  • Assess a patient with tremor and know when to suspect a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease
  • Know how to assess a patient's risk of a stroke after a transient ischaemic attack (TIA)
  • Understand secondary prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation and with carotid artery stenosis
  • Understand the importance of timely diagnosis in people with dementia
  • Confidently manage behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia
  • Know how to assess and objectively measure frailty, plan the care of older people who are frail to improve their outcomes, and prevent progression of frailty.
