BMJ Learning offers high-quality continuing medical education for doctors and other healthcare professionals. It features hundreds of accredited, peer-reviewed learning modules in text, video, and audio formats.

When you sign in to BMJ Learning, you'll see your own personal homepage, which displays modules tailored to you based on your profession, specialty and location. This makes choosing the right modules for your CME/CPD quicker and easier.

The learning modules provided by BMJ Learning deal with everyday issues in primary care and hospital medicine. They are evidence based and peer reviewed, and are regularly updated. Most modules take around an hour to complete. Many are free to access.

BMJ Learning is closely integrated with BMJ Portfolio. Once you register with BMJ Learning, you will have your own confidential record of all the modules you take – an excellent way to keep track of the CME/CPD credits you have achieved.

You can download or print certificates for modules you complete as evidence of CME/CPD or QOF points, or for use in an appraisal. The modules on BMJ Learning are accredited by several organisations, and you will be offered a choice of which organisation appears on your certificate.

You can use BMJ Learning as an individual, or to learn with your colleagues as a team. For example, you could use our modules on audit, complaints, and preventing medical errors as a foundation for a half day's teaching on clinical governance. Learning together has many advantages. You can exchange information and experiences, and you can share different insights and perspectives on clinical and ethical dilemmas.

Sources of income

BMJ Learning receives income from a range of sources to ensure wide and affordable access while maintaining full editorial independence.

BMJ Learning receives income from the BMA to provide free access to BMA members. It also contracts with a range of bodies including the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence to produce custom learning modules.

Where a module has been created under contract, this is indicated clearly on the module. Where advertising is carried, the advertisers have no involvement with the editorial content.

Ethics

The learning modules on BMJ Learning are created using a process that is compliant with all relevant ethical, medico-legal, and legal requirements. If material related to a potentially identifiable patient is contained within a module, then we require that patient's explicit and written consent. The confidentiality of patients is assured. BMJ Learning is compliant with data-protection legislation.

Images

Any identifiable people or patients pictured on our site have given their consent for their image to be used. We source some of our images from a stock photography company, which requires models to sign a release form permitting the use of their image.
