Preparing for your first FY1 post

This module explores what is potentially in store for you during the first few weeks and months of your FY1 post, offering perspectives and suggestions that will help you prepare for this and future career transitions.

Learning outcomes

After completing this module, you should be able to:

  • Understand the issues that doctors face when starting their first FY1 post
  • Use self-awareness to be proactive and pre-empt transition issues and challenges ahead, through mental and physical preparation
  • Appreciate how you might address any challenges by developing relevant skills, and seeking the right support so you can make the most of the first few months and hit the ground running!
