This module will show you the red flag indicators that suggest a serious cause for diarrhoea, and what tests to do and how to run them when considering various diagnosis.

Learning outcomes

After completing this module you should:

  • Know the red flag indicators that suggest a serious cause for diarrhoea
  • Understand how to use faecal calprotectin testing appropriately in the investigation of chronic diarrhoea
  • Be aware of what tests to do – and how - when considering a diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome or coeliac disease.
